Reaching People Planting Churches
WEC International reaches out to people who have limited or no access to the good news of Jesus Christ, particularly where there is no church. We work in multicultural teams to plant multiplying churches among these people.
Inseparable from the above is our vision for a world changing movement. See the quote sidebar on this page.
Here in NZ our expression of the international vision looks like this.
From New Zealand we envision a time when thousands of churches up and down this nation will take up their responsibility to make disciples of all nations, being hungry for God, crying for the lost, sacrificing to go in far greater numbers. We envision a time when there will be enough equipped and inspired goers for every people to have real opportunity to know Christ; a time when all peoples have heard, and our awesome Lord returns.
To plant: to establish, to help take shape, to facilitate,
Goers: persons prepared to go, and going, to those people who have not had an opportunity to hear about the good news of Jesus Christ
Peoples or People Group: "For evangelization purposes, a people group is the largest group within which the Gospel can spread as a church planting movement without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance." In many parts of the world lack of understandability serves as the main barrier and it is appropriate to define people group primarily by language with the possibility of sub-divisions based on dialect or cultural variations. In other parts of the world, most notably in portions of South Asia, acceptance is a greater barrier than understandability. In these regions, caste, religious tradition, location, common histories and legends, plus language may be used to define the boundaries of each people group. Joshua Project uses the terms "people", "people group" and "ethnic people" synonymously. However, others may distinguish between the terms.
